model identification

Why can’t I FIND THE MODEL AND SERIAL NUMBERS?

Old Clintons (like the 700) had a metal arrowhead tag fastened to the blower housing. Later models had a model/serial number tag covering the power-take-off side cooling fins. Even later models had a lubrication label where the model/serial number tag used to be. So what happened to the model identification? It's there. The numbers run vertically instead of horizontally. The stamping is shallow and more often than not the paint fills the grooves. Consequently, many people think there is no identification. Look very, very, very, very...very closely. I usually need a magnifying glass. Sometimes the paint needs to be removed.
